Apple gave me the Intel version instead of M1...
Original poster... and it took me a year to realize.I bought a MacBook Pro in-store in March 2021, after my old one broke due to some known screen-wiring issue with the MBP. At the time the intel and M1 MBPs were the same price. I specifically spoke with the associate about the M1 compatibility, and was 100% under the impression that I was buying the M1. I upgraded the RAM and storage, so the overall price was $1800.Cue a few weeks ago when I was trying to install M1-specific software and encountering errors. I just had never even thought to check that the store associate had in fact given me the M1 version I asked for. I never should have been sold the Intel version anyway, since it doesn't make sense outside of specific use cases...I've called Apple, Apple care, the store, everything and have gotten no where. I asked the store manager (Carnegie Library DC) how they decided which version to sell a customer, and she said they would sell the version that came up first on their system, which was basically random (!!). I've launched a complaint against the store, otherwise I'm at a loss. hey just tell me to sell my MBP on Ebay or trade-in at a $1000+ loss. Reactions:fisherman188, progx, MajorFubar and 8 others
