Remember that movie about animated animals in a singing competition? Vaguely? Well, it turns out that movie came out five years ago, and now there’s a sequel!

Sing 2 opens in theaters this week, the sequel to 2016’s Sing. The animated film for kids follows a troupe of singing animals who are gearing up for a holiday show at “Redshore City” for a very important businessman, and they hope to enlist a famous rockstar to join them.

The film features the voices of a near-endless list of A-list stars, including Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Offerman,—all of whom are returning from the first film—as well as newcomers Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Eric André, Chelsea Peretti, and Bono. Phew!

Sing 2 arrives just in time for the holiday season, which is perfect for keeping hyped-up kids busy. But with Omicron case on the rise, some parents might be looking to stream Sing 2 at home. Beginning on Friday January 7, Sing 2 on will be available to rent for $19.99 digital platforms like Vudu, Amazon Prime, iTunes, YouTube, Google Play, and more. The news of the Sing 2 VOD release comes just two weeks after the film opened in theaters. After you rent the film, you will have a 48-hour window to watch it from the moment you hit play.

WILL SING 2 BE ON HBO MAX?

No. Sing 2 is a Universal Pictures movie, not a Warner Bros. movie, and therefore will not be streaming on HBO Max when it opens in theaters. While HBO Max—which is owned by Warner Media—has been the streaming home for blockbuster Warner Bros. movies like Dune, it will not be the streaming home for Universal movies like Sing 2. While the movie may be on HBO Max someday, it won’t be any time soon.
